Literature Text

The forest was in a scramble. Gigant Edge stood guard in a cleared out area, his oversized sword in hand, prepared to fend off the intruder. He knew as well as anyone that the fight would be futile, but they all had to do their part to try. No one here was going down without a fight. Though he couldn't help secretly hoping that a certain gold-armored knight would finally cease to be.

And speaking of the little devil, he had heard of the coming ruckus as well. A young Sir Kibble who simply went by the name “Kibble”. The knight's antics constantly put the lives of the inhabitants in danger, even without outside intervention. Gigant Edge couldn't help but think that the mere fact that they were now under attack was somehow Kibble's fault. He didn't know how, but it had to be Kibble's fault.

Arthur, a blade knight of enhanced potential, stood guard beyond Gigant. Although he had more potential than an average blade knight, he had no idea how to tap into the power. The plan was to figure that out after the fall of his boss. He stood there as the last resort; a trump card to take out a weakened foe. Kibble, on the other hand, stood before the boss's clearing. He always charged head-first into danger.

The yellow puffball was shortly visible in the distance, already sporting a green hat and silver sword. Gigant an the others braced themselves for the coming disaster. Kibble, on the other hand, taunted it.

“Hey, Kirby!” he shouted into the distance, “Kawasaki called, he wants his butter knife back!”

The puffball that had previously been content cutting down everyone who crossed his path halted and glared straight at him, a vein of anger clearly visible on his face. “What was that you said about my sword, punk?”

“You heard me!” Kibble yelled back, followed by promptly booking it past Gigant's arena as fast as he could. The puffball was now focused solely on him, and even the preparations intended to lock him into combat with Gigant were ignored. He was interested exclusively on getting the guy who insulted his favorite weapon. Past all the waddle dees, and hot heads, and sword knights. All, but one. Without so much as a pause, the puffball ditched his hat and inhaled Arthur on the way to Kibble. Now wielding a massive blade capable of far more destruction, he chased Kibble straight out of the forest.

Kibble bumped into a familiar blue biospark outside the forest and quickly yelped for him to cover them up. Not one to question Kibble's insanity, he did so. The puffball was holding no bars on swinging at thin air and growing dangerously close to the hidden pair. Not one swing away from destroying them both, the power disappeared.

“Darn it.” the puffball lamented. The two waited until he left before uncovering.

The biospark leered; "You really need to stop tempting fate."

This Deviation is for LiteraryFanFiction's Flash Fan Fiction Friday activity. (Max 500 Words, One week to write). See fav.me/d4z7a0g for more from me, or the entire collection of my 4F shorts on Ao3.

Let's have a test run. In this 4F, I'm not using generic characters, but reoccurring ones in my own mind. The test run is using them outside of the context of a full story and seeing how they come across. Only one character in this isn't part of my head-fanon. It shouldn't be hard to guess who.

Kibble is meant to have the the roles of Born Lucky, The Fool, and the listed entry of The Scapegoat (although not undeservedly in that regard). There was going to be a bit of The Initiation where he explains why he's like that, but there wasn't room so it got cut.
